I remember asking her one on one "will I ever see your face again?" Now please understand, I was much younger, I did not know ANYTHING about Islam (except the negative images shown on tv), and my sister and I have always had a joking way of talking to each other. So I knew that if I needed questions answered, she would be the one to answer them (and she still is - I love her soo much!)
Now - I feel that a person should wear whatever they need to wear that allows them to be as connected as possible to God/Allah (swt). If wearing Niqab is what one needs to do - do it! As a non muslim woman, I feel that it is my duty as a woman to defend the rights of sisters everywhere to practice their faith the way they see fit. So in closing - go for it! Niqab is beautiful because YOU make it that way by reflecting Allah in you!
1000 Salaams to you all!!!!!Co Coanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6301609941612366371.post-34819914913487671542009-10-20T17:42:30.808-07:002009-10-20T17:42:30.808-07:00Asalaamu alaikum sisters...

I wear it everywhere I go, except into my classes (I'm a full-time college student)...partly because I started the semester without niqab in class; but more importantly, one of my classmates is deaf and I know she reads lips. Other than that, I wear it whenever I leave the house.

My one piece of advice I really have is, if you decide to wear it, to know how you will respond when people ask you questions about it. Usually, when adults ask, I explain that the Qur'an tells men to lower their gaze, but since we live in a country where men do not do so, then I will cover my face. (They understand this better than saying that I'm wearing it for the sake of Allah, which is really first and foremost).

I still struggle with how to respond to children that ask about it. Little kids don't really understand "modesty," so I'm still not quite sure how to answer them. Any suggestions would be helpful, insh'Allah. :D

Salaam,
AakifahAakifahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07053085573819439278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6301609941612366371.post-1686371012187128562009-10-20T15:39:44.865-07:002009-10-20T15:39:44.865-07:00Well masha'Allah if you do decide to!
